Destroy the Masterpiece

2011

Destroy the Masterpiece is a large-scale public art project by Rachel that combines photography, text, and urban environments to question the fragility of beauty and legacy. For this series, Rachel wheat-pasted murals spanning two to three stories high, layering vectorized photographic portraits with handwritten quotes from her brother. The resulting works juxtapose precision and impermanence—crisp digital imagery against weathered city walls—inviting viewers to reflect on memory, identity, and what it means to “destroy” or preserve a masterpiece.
